How to export PST from Microsoft 365

To export PST from M365 the below steps must be followed:

  1. Give role permission
  2. Search account
  3. Create pst
  4. Download pst

Give permission

  • Enter Microsoft 365 compliance
  • Permissions
  • Compliance center roles
  • eDiscovery Manager add export
  • Edit eDiscovery Administrator to add member (if is not working, remove Admin and add Manager, wait 1 hour)

Then:

Export PST

  • Content search- New
  • Turn on Exchange mailboxes – Choose user
  • No conditions for full
  • Click on created content-Actions-Export results
  • All items INCLUDING
  • Open export tab
  • Copy key
  • Download results
  • Run or install eDiscovery tool and open
  • Paste key-location-name in advanced options

File size (default is 10GB). If you have bigger than 10GB do the following:

  • Close eDiscovery tool
  • Create txt file name pstsize.reg
  • Add following:
  1. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
  2. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\eDiscovery\ExportTool]
  3. “PstSizeLimitInBytes”=”21474836480” (20GB) or enter the desired size
